About the Organisation

Respected is a charity set up by a GP to deliver Relationships and Sex Education to secondary schools. The programme was originally only available in her local area of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole but, since June 2022, has been available to any school in the country.

At Respected, we believe that each student is a unique and valuable individual, capable of making healthy decisions when adequately informed and supported. We also believe that everybody deserves healthy and fulfilling relationships. Our programme aims to equip young people with the information they need to make healthy and well informed decisions in this vital area of their lives.

It encourages students to reclaim respect and commitment in relationships and to consider delaying sexual experience until a long term committed relationship.

The use of Business IT skills and Innovative IT Solutions to upscale technology use in Sex Education for secondary school students in the UK. The aim is to create an IT strategy for driving growth and service uptake in the Dorset region.
Additional Information: This project is open for two students, though you need to work independently (cannot collaborate on literature review, methodology, development, etc).

Expected Involvement from the Organisation: For this project, you will have regular mentorship conversations with a Respected employee. This is different from your project supervisor, who is an academic member of the department. The Respected member of staff acts as your client and will guide you towards the core and immediate needs of the client.
Available Resources: This project should use technologies and resources available to you within the department. For designing and creating the solution, you may need to self-study the use of platforms or innovative technologies that are applicable to the project.
